Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 October 2026
These terms govern your use of Engage Chats at chats.byengage.com. By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.
Who we are
- Engage is a pilot independent software project, and Engage Chats is one of its products. Where these terms say “we”, they mean the operator of the project.
- Sales are made through Dodo Payments as merchant of record: it is the official seller in the transaction and handles payment, tax, invoices and refund requests.
- For anything concerning these terms, write to info@byengage.com.
What the service does
- One inbox for the messages, comments, reviews and email from the channels you connect, with AI-suggested replies written in your voice from your business profile.
- In “I’m here” no reply goes out until you press Send.
- In “Cover for me” the assistant replies on your behalf to what arrives after you turn it on, and every reply waits a few moments in which you can cancel it.
Your account and age
- Accounts are opened by signing in with an Engage account, through Google or email. You must be 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
- You are responsible for everything done under your account and for keeping your access to it safe. An account is for one person or one business.
Connecting your channels
- When you connect a social account you approve it on the platform’s own page, and we ask only to read and reply to messages and comments, not to post or run ads.
- Connections go through a channel-connection provider we contract with, which holds the access to your account. We keep only the connection’s identifier.
- Email is connected with an app password, not your account password, and it is stored encrypted. You can disconnect your email from the Channels page at any time, or revoke the app password with your email provider.
- You confirm that you own the accounts you connect or are authorised to manage them, and that using them here complies with each platform’s terms.
Your replies and your responsibility
- Suggested replies are written by AI and may be wrong, incomplete or inappropriate. Review them before sending.
- In “Cover for me” replies go out in your name without you reviewing each one, and you decide to turn it on. You are responsible for every reply sent from your accounts, whether you wrote it or the assistant did.
- The assistant does not write prices, times or promises that are not in your business profile, but it can misread a message. Keep your profile accurate and up to date.
- Do not use the service to send unsolicited messages, or to auto-reply in a way that breaks a platform’s rules.
Your customers
- Your customers’ messages reach us because you connected your channels. We process them on your behalf and only to provide the service to you. We do not sell them or train any model on them.
- You are responsible towards your customers for telling them what the law where you are requires, including that you use an AI tool to help you reply.
Your public page and member messages
- Your public page lets anyone who signs in send you a message, and shows you their name and verified email.
- The conversation link the sender receives by email opens the conversation for whoever has it, so it should not be shared.
- You can block any sender and hide your public page.
Plans and payment
- The free plan does not expire, and its limits are published on the plans page. Paid plans are a monthly or yearly subscription.
- The Pro trial lasts seven days, once per account, with no card. If it ends without a subscription, connected social accounts are disconnected automatically and email stays.
- Advertised prices include tax, and a plan activates the moment payment succeeds. Your card number never reaches our servers and we never store it.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled. Cancelling stops the renewal, not the plan: it keeps working until the last day you paid for.
- Payments are not refunded for partial periods, except where the law requires otherwise or Dodo Payments’ policy provides for it. If something went wrong with a payment, write to us within fourteen days and we will look into it.
- If we change a price we will tell you at least thirty days ahead, and the change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
Prohibited use
- You may not use the service for anything unlawful where you are, nor for harassment or threats, hate speech, sexual content, or anything that harms children.
- You may not use it for fraud or deception, false advertising or fake reviews, misleading replies to reviews, or impersonating a person or a brand.
- Technically, you may not attempt to bypass limits or access controls, resell the service or access it programmatically without our permission, or upload anything carrying malware.
Availability and change
- We work to keep the service running and do not guarantee it will never be interrupted. It may stop for maintenance, because of a provider failure outside our control, or because a platform changes its terms or withdraws access.
- We may add, change or withdraw features. If we withdraw a substantial feature your paid plan depends on, we will tell you beforehand.
Ending the service
- You may stop using the service whenever you like, cancel your subscription, disconnect your channels, and ask us to delete your account at info@byengage.com.
- We may suspend your account if you break these terms. For anything short of a serious breach we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
- If we decide to close the product entirely, we will tell you thirty days ahead.
Limits of liability
- The service is provided as is and as available. We are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, a reply you or the assistant sent in your name, or a message you missed because of an outage at a platform or provider.
- In any case our liability will not exceed what you paid us in the twelve months before the event.
- You are responsible for claims that arise from your replies or from your breach of these terms.
- Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects your rights as a consumer where you live.
Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms. A substantial change will be announced in the product or by email at least fourteen days before it takes effect.
- If a change does not suit you, you can cancel your subscription before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept it.
